Should a photojournalists ethics be absolute or situational? Why?

I think that photojournalism ethics should be situational because the way a photo looks according to the truth has a lot to do with the situation in which the photo was taken. It also has a lot to do with the way people think, that is why humans make exception to special situations when they probably weren't supposed to.

Can a photo really capture truth? Why or why not?

Yes, a photo can capture truth because if something happens and you take a picture at that exact moment, you have proof that it really did happen.

What decisions have you made as a photographer that "edit" reality? Explain.

On a picture that I took of a student smiling and holding a pair of glasses, his hand that he was holding the glasses in was blurry because it was at the bottom of the photo, so i distinguished the handle of the glasses a bit more so the onlooker would be able to tell that the student in the photo was holding something.

Why is it important that news organizations have clearly defined ethical standards?

Because if they don't, then their employees will go about doing whatever they please with their photos and print them in magazines or newspapers. Because of that, the magazine or newspaper may get a bad reputation.
